The original of two versions, this Italian masterpiece of the Renaissance era is by the great master, Leonardo da Vinci. The painting depicts the adoration of baby Jesus by the Virgin Mary, baby John the Baptist and the angel Uriel in a mystical rocky area, showing a non-Biblical tale that took place while Jesus returned from Egypt. An example of representing divinity through grace, da Vinci focused on making this devotional scene incredibly intimate and harmonious with every figure interacting with another to tie in their relationships. This painting is now housed at The Louvre in Paris, France.
